I’m starting this blog as a platform to share my experience in becoming a Power BI Developer/Storyteller from an Accountants perspective. I had been using Excel for most of my career before learning about Power Pivot as an Excel add-on in 2013. Ever since, I have enjoyed the challenge of learning DAX/M, and empowering others with analytics.

Power BI at its core brings the Excel-diehard a way to automate and share enterprise-level insights with the business. For me, this meant taking on a more forward facing business role. By learning and sharing Power BI with our business, we discovered the clear advantage that data and dialogue bring to the decision making process.

With all this power and opportunity, I still run into Accounting and Finance professionals that have never heard of Power BI or the potential it brings.

This blog is a way for me to share with the Excel crowd some great learning resources that helped me bridge my skillset in Excel into Power BI. I will share some of my favorite DAX/M tips and tricks, and occasionally discuss our experience with changing data culture. I encourage you to check out our adoption story posted here, where we had the honor to share with Gil Raviv on his blog DataChant.com.

Thank you for visiting! I look forward to sharing and hearing back from you on your Power BI journey. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and share.
