I’m starting this blog as a platform to share my experience in becoming a Power BI Developer/Storyteller from an Accountants perspective. I had been using Excel for most of my career before learning about Power Pivot in 2013. Ever since, I have enjoyed learning DAX/M and picking up new modeling techniques, user adoption tips, and how to best use both products in my role.

It didn’t take long for me to realize the high ROI potential of the Microsoft Power products. At it’s core, this product was built for you, the business user. It promises, and delivers automation and collaboration. As a result, the typical back office data worker assumes more of a forward facing business role; empowering themselves and others with actionable insights.

With all this power and opportunity, I still run into Accounting and Finance professionals that have never heard of Power BI or the potential it brings.

In this blog, I plan to share some of my favorite DAX/M tips and tricks. I also will provide some key training resources I found helpful, and how we were able to gain adoption and buy-in. I encourage you to check out our adoption story posted here, where we had the honor to share with Gil Raviv on his blog DataChant.com.

Thank you for visiting! I look forward to sharing and hearing back from you on your Power BI journey. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and share.
